Felted Woolly Delights

A New Branch of the Jago’s Art Tree

I am so very excited to welcome you to the newest branch of the Jago’s Art tree, which began growing when I discovered the wonderfully tactile world of needle felting.

Having spent years creating animal and local-scene artwork, pet portraits, prints and gifts through Jago’s Art using paint, coloured pencils, technology and processes such as sublimation, I happened upon an entirely new medium.

I couldn’t resist exploring this very different way of working — one that required patience and imagination, encouraged me to slow down and challenged me to let go of some of my perfectionist ways.

It was a way of creating shaped entirely by wool.

What was this wonderful new discovery of mine? It was the magical world of needle felting — and it quickly became my newfound passion.

Using special barbed needles, needle felting is the process through which loose wool is gradually shaped, layered and brought to life. Some pieces become delightful textured landscapes that feel almost like paintings made from wool. Others grow into sculptures, mushroom houses and whimsical creations with stories of their own.

Whatever the final result, every Felted Woolly Delight is created by hand, and no two pieces will ever be exactly alike. The small variations, textures and individual details are all part of what makes each one special.

I also can’t help but love the thought that every creation contains something of the sheep to which its woolly coat once belonged. That coat already had a story before my work even began, and now the wool is continuing its journey in a completely new form.

Each and every Felted Woolly Delight is made not only with patience, care and imagination, but also with good wishes, oodles of positive energy and hopes for abundance and joy.

I like to believe that every creation is destined for a certain someone — and that this person will discover their Felted Woolly Delight at exactly the moment they are meant to.

What Is Coming?

This new branch is still growing, and I am currently creating the first pieces for the online collection. These will include:

  • original needle-felted pictures;
  • wool sculptures and characters;
  • woodland and nature-inspired creations;
  • small handmade gifts;
  • and, in time, needle-felting kits.

Pieces will be added in small numbers as they are completed, rather than being mass-produced in large quantities. Every item will be made individually, meaning that availability may be limited and each creation will have its own unique character.

Follow Along as the Branch Grows

I will be documenting and sharing the process, new experiments and behind-the-scenes stories through the Jago’s Art blog and my Felted Woolly Delights YouTube channel.

You are more than welcome to join me there and follow along as this new branch continues to grow.

Coming soon — the first online collection of Felted Woolly Delights.
